Hepolite has been an integral name in the British motorcycle industry since its inception. Hepworth and Grandage, manufacturers of Hepolite pistons and rings, at it's peak operated four factories in England and over 5,000 employees! Manufacturing a million piston rings a week, Hepolite products were used and respected worldwide. Always focused on quality, the Hepolite motto was "Do the job right"!
As time marched on, Hepworth and Grandage became part of Associated Engineering (AE), then was absorbed by other companies before its eventual sale by Federal Mogul to Wassell Limited. Hepolite products have been back in manufacture, with a lot of High quality English made engine parts, including oil pumps, camshafts, piston rings, cylinder liners ( cylinder sleeves ), and valve train parts.
There has been a lot of speculation and confusion over the Hepolite brand, specifically pistons for Triumph, BSA, and Norton. Since Wassell does not have a piston foundry, the pistons are being produced by JCC in Taiwan. This is not a secret, nor is anyone trying to hide this information. However the ring sets supplied with Hepolite pistons were previously manufactured by Hastings Rings in Michigan, USA.
Seeking more control of production and lead times, a former AE group ring manufacturer in England was employed to produce the new Hepolite piston rings. These rings are very high quality and also feature a modern two piece oil ring. (if you have never seen this please look at our installation notes by clicking here)
We have sold JCC Triumph pistons for a decade and have yet to find fault with them. Combined with this excellent new English made ring set, it will now be the obvious choice for most rebuilders and restorers. Having personally inspected thousands of piston rings, I am excited to see someone producing a high quality ring set for "the best motorcycle in the world".
These Hepolite piston and ring sets are weight matched and inspected before shipping, to insure the best possible engine parts for your Triumph. For more information or to purchase a set, please see the links below.
